AWKA — The Anambra State Association of Town Unions –ASATU, Anambra Central unit, made up of the fifty-eight Presidents-General –PGs- of the fifty-eight communities in Anambra Central, today settled to give full support to Uzuegbuna Okagbue, APGA frontline aspirant for Anambra Central top job.

During an interactive and consultative session attended by about forty-five Presidents-General with Uzuegbuna Okagbue at Amawbia town hall today, Anambra Central ASATU expressed utmost satisfaction and faith in Okagbue’s skill set, competence, ability, and experience, all of which they said has positioned and predisposed him, to make an excellent senator for the zone. Rt. Hon. Sam Obieke who was former Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, and the President-General of Nise community, commended Uzuegbuna’s articulation, fluency, and experience, noting that he has all it may take to deliver a never-seen-before quality representation at the senate.

“I am so impressed that you speak flawless Igbo, not a word of English throughout your address…anyone with your experience needs no further experience to be able to do the job you are seeking. I commend you, greatly. What we are doing here today can be regarded as the ‘Amawbia Accord’. When you get there, don’t forget the town unions.”

Earlier, the President-General of Aguluzoigbo, Chukwuibe Maduka, in his remarks, noted that times have changed and therefore it is only natural for us to have a transition of leadership from the elderly to youths. “Things have changed, youths for change is the trendy thing and we must take careful note of that and act accordingly”.

In his rounded and well-delivered speech, the APGA Anambra Central Senate hopeful, Uzuegbuna Okagbue, said that though the election process is still strictly party affair for now, but he knows that political parties are not hanging in the air. “It is true that we are still at party level. But the parties are in the wards. All the wards in the seven local government areas of Anambra Central are in communities and these communities are under your leadership,” Uzuegbuna told the Presidents-General.

He went on to discuss at length, how he intends to represent the entire people of the fifty-eight communities in the zone, in a different way that has not been seen before. Speaking on how he worked with the governor for eight years, Uzu said that working with the governor, he knows what most federal lawmakers come to ask from the government; that none of them make any demands that serves the interest of their constituents.

The Chairman of Anambra Central ASATU, Ikechukwu Oforkansi was so enthralled by the speech delivered by Uzuegbuna that he opted to speak first in response to the beautiful rendition. “We truly need quality representation. I am excited and that’s why I decided to talk first. This is not the usual politics that we used to know. Uzu, I have known you for a very long time. You are the first APGA senatorial aspirant to come and see us. My pledge is that we will support you. We will also pray for you,” the Chairman declared.

For the President-General of Umuoji community, Silas Onyima; “Uzuegbuna Okagbue, I am sure you have never seen me and I have also never seen you before; but I have been hearing your name. I must tell you today that you have convinced me and many of us here. You are talented; people like you must come up. I will follow you. The truth is that one needs youthful energy to perform as a lawmaker. You will get there,” he concluded.

Colman Uba, the President General of Ichida also noted that Okagbue’s delivery power and confidence speak of nothing short of excellence and that such a man ought to go to the senate to give the people quality representation. Umunnnachi community President-General was the last to speak. He extolled the virtues of Uzuegbuna Okagbue as a true leader and an honest man.

Rev. Canon Ozuo, the PG of Mbaukwu said the closing prayer, in which all the PGs prayed for Uzuegbuna Okagbue and affirmed that he has shown ability and trustworthiness, therefore deserving to go and represent Anambra Central at the 10th senate.
