DUTSE, (JIGAWA) — Senate President, Dr. Ahmed Lawan has said that he intends to build on the legacies of President Muhammadu Buhari in tackling insecurity if elected the next president in 2023.

Lawan said this while addressing the delegates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Dutse, Jigawa State, on Saturday ahead of the party’s presidential primaries.

While Lawan maintained that the present administration had done so much in respect of economic policies and provision of security to the citizenry, he admitted that a lot still needed to be done.

He assured that he would consolidate President Buhari’s legacies, pledging to provide appropriate equipment to enable security agencies to address the challenges.

“Even though the present administration under President Muhammad Buhari has done and is still doing well in tackling security challenges, I assure you that if I become the next president of this country, I will build on that and provide the security agencies with the necessary equipment to enable them to end the security challenges,” the Senate President said.

Lawan boasted that he possessed all the necessary experiences to lead Nigeria into greatness if given the mandate in 2023.

He said his 23 years as a parliamentarian had provided him with deeper insight into the real issues concerning governance in the country.

He, therefore, urged the delegates to give him their votes at the presidential primary election.
