The organisers of Headies Awards, Smooth Productions, says Portable might face automatic disqualification from this year’s edition for threatening to kill his fellow nominees.

Portable, born Habeed Okikiola, is one of the nominees for the Best Street-Hop Artiste and Rookie of the Year awards according to the nomination list released by the Headies on Tuesday.

Hours after the organisers unveiled the list, the Zazuu Zeh crooner posted a video on his Instagram page where he was heard saying he would kill whoever beats him to the awards in the categories he was nominated in.

“All those awards, I own them. Whoever is given those awards apart from me, I’ll ask them to kill the person. I’ll just ask them to kill you,” the Ogun-state-born rapper said in the disturbing video.

In a swift response, the organisers of the awards condemned the artiste for threatening the lives of fellow nominees.

“We have notified the Nigerian police of Mr. Okokiola’s actions to fellow nominees,” the organisers stated in a broadcast via HipTV, its satellite TV channel, on Friday.

“Also, demand for the immediate retraction of the video as well as a written apology to nominees in both categories and to The Headies has been made.

“Should Mr. Okikiola fail to meet our demands, we will not only disqualify him from participating in The Headies but also enforce the instrumentality of the law.

“The general public are hereby implored to disregard the video and stop the dissemination of the same in the public space.”

Meanwhile, the singer, in a video late Friday, apologised to the organisers, insisting that he worked for the awards and should be the recipient.

“Headies don nominate “madman” olorin. Streets ti take over. So make una give us our award o,” he said.

“No vex o, bros. Bros, no vex o. If I fuck up, no be me first dey fuck up. Plenty people don dey fuck up. Abeg, I wan collect my award.”
