Intending Muslim pilgrims for the 2022 pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia would pay the amount of Hajj fare based on each geopolitical zone of the country.

Fatima Sanda Usara, spokesperson of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) in a statement on Saturday said each pilgrim from the southern part of the country would pay N2,496,815.29 while their counterparts from Northern part of the country would pay N2,449, 607.89.

According to the statement, the commission, Zikirullah Kunle Hassan, stated this while speaking in an extraordinary meeting with chief executives of the Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Boards on Saturday urged them to hasten preparation as there was no luxury of time.

“Air tickets’ costs would be the major difference in the hajj fare; pilgrims are to pay N30, 000 to get their COVID-19 PCR tests, which was one of the conditions for the exercise.

“For Adamawa and Borno states, they are to pay N2, 408, 197.89 due to their proximity to Saudi Arabia,” he added.

The chairman urged stakeholders to send their staff to study the visa processing system due to recent modifications introduced by Saudi Arabia this year.
