MINNA — The Taskforce on the implementation of the law prohibiting the illegal slaughter of animals in the Minna metropolis of Niger state has arrested fifteen persons for violating the law.
Dr. Ibrahim Garba Musa, Permanent Secretary Niger state Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries, who stated this in Minna the state capital, said they were arrested during an enforcement drive by the Taskforce.
Musa expressed dismay over the indiscriminate slaughter of animals in the affected area, stressing that part of the ministry’s mandate is to ensure that wholesome meat is being served to people in the Minna metropolis.
He reminded Nigerlites that the law prohibiting the illegal slaughter of animals in Minna metropolis is still enforced, and explained that the suspects arrested would be charged to court to serve as a deterrent to others.
