ENUGU — The narrative of praying without action as regards politics and elections in Nigeria is gradually changing as Rt. Revd Daniel Nkemjika Olinya, Anglican Bishop of Eha-Amufu in Isi-Uzo Local Government Area, Enugu state, and priests serving in the Diocese of Eha-Amufu gave her members an ultimatum to register and get their Permanent Voters Card before 1st of August, 2022 or be banned from entering the church.

Bishop Olinya communicated his Diocese’s stand via a video that is circulated on social media.

In the video, the Bishop and other priests were seen holding their PVCs up and in Igbo language called on all to endeavor to get their PVC so as to vote come 2023 election; their message was translated thus…

“We the priests of Eha-Amufu Diocese have gotten our Permanent Voters Card in preparation for the 2023 general elections.”

“We vow this day to encourage all our members to go register and get their PVCs and participate in 2023 election to elect the President, Governor, Senators, Members of the House of Representatives and State House of Assembly.”

“We promise to do this as sons of this nation, Nigeria in the name of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Amen.”

As we pray against corrupt leaders hijacking the electoral process, we must do the needful which is to get our PVCs and actively participate in 2023 elections.
