Xavier, one-half of a set of twins born to Elon Musk, the billionaire founder of Tesla Inc., has filed a request in a Los Angeles court for a change of name.
Musk has seven children with his first wife, Justine Wilson, a Canadian writer to whom he was married from 2000 to 2008. Among the children are Xavier and his twin Griffin, and triplet sons: Kai, Saxon, and Damian.
Xavier, who recently turned 18, the age of consent in California, decided on a change of name upon the discovery of his sexual orientation.
He asked the court to change his gender recognition from male to female and also requested to be known henceforth as Vivian Jenna Wilson.
In the documents filed, the teenager who is still legally called Xavier said the change of name was not only informed by his desire to be recognised as a woman but to cut ties with his father.
“I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form,” he was quoted as saying.
The hearing on the name change is set for Friday before a judge in Santa Monica, California.
