The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, office in Igboeze North Local Government Headquarters, Enugu State was on Sunday set ablaze by unknown arsonists.
Dr. Emeka Ononamadu, Resident Electoral Commissioner, INEC Enugu confirmed the incident stating the extent of damage has not been ascertained but no life was lost.
Ononamadu further revealed that the timely intervention of fire fighters from Nsukka and Ogurute prevented further escalation of the fire to all sections of the Commission’s building.
Recall that Igboeze North and Igboeze South Local Government Areas has recently been under attack by unknown gunmen which led to the state government imposing 6pm-6am curfew in both troubled areas.
