MAIDUGURI — Borno State Government has released the sum of N19.4 million for the payment of scholarships to 59 law students who are indigenes of the state studying in the three law schools in the country.
Isa Bala, Executive Secretary of Borno Scholarship Board who disclosed in Maiduguri, said the scholarship was part of the government’s social welfare and cooperative responsibility to the indigenes of the state.
He explained that Governor Babagana Zulum approved the money aimed at encouraging more citizens of the state to study law.
“Prof. Babagana Zulum is passionate about education, so this current administration has assisted thousands of students who have limited resources.
“We have selected 59 of them across all the 27 local government areas of the state. We believe this will assist the students to concentrate on their studies without thinking about the logistics,” he said.
He added that the award was offered to assist young students in institutions of learning, especially for those who have limited resources to sponsor the pursuit of their academics.
While calling on the beneficiaries to be good ambassadors of the state, Bala charged them to work hard to justify the assistance given to them.
