KADUNA — Supporters of Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, Obidients, has been dragging Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State on Twitter for denigrating a proposed street march in support of Obi in the state.

The governor had mocked a plan by ‘Obidients’ to hold a “two-million-man march” for the former Anambra governor in the state.

Supporters of Obi have been holding a one-million-man marches across the country to show their solidarity with him.

A coalition of 56 support groups across the 13 Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State, with a numerical strength of one million, on Saturday, 6 August 2022 held a march in solidarity and support for the Labour Party presidential candidate.

Obi’s supporters also took over the streets of Calabar in a massive rally last Saturday. The rally, which was attended by thousands of youths, literally paralyzed vehicular movements in the city.

Hours after the one-million-man march for Obi in Calabar ended, a Kaduna resident, Abdullahi Umar Zarma, hinted at replicating the successful street marches in Nasarawa and Calabar in Kaduna.

“Kaduna Two Million March for Peter Obi,” Zarma had tweeted on Sunday.

In response, El-Rufai sneered at the LP’S presidential candidate, his supporters and their planned “two-million-man march” in Kaduna.

According to him, Obi would be lucky to have 200 persons participating in the planned march in Kaduna in support of his presidential ambition.

“In Kaduna? Not Kaduna Twitter? – I hope you get Two Hundred persons on the streets, including those ‘imports’ that can’t open their shops on Mondays and came on overnight bus last night! I jus’ dey laff, wallahi tallahi!!,” the governor tweeted.

El-Rufai’s comment on the proposed two-million-man march for Obi in Kaduna has generated hundreds of mixed reactions with some in support and others, especially  ‘Obidients’, castigating the Kaduna governor.

Read some of the comments gathered below.

@Isidore0001: Dear El Rufai…just type “I HATE IGBOS” with your full chest…no dey disguise. Say hi to terrorists for us, the real Administrators of Kaduna state.

@VictorIsrael_: I don’t know how y’all see this but this sounds like a threat. If anything happens to any Nigerian in Kaduna who comes to stand in solidarity with Peter Obi, El Rufai should be held responsible. Bl00d sucking demon.

@Ib_Y22: When we said it, they all said we are not saying the right thing. Now, the owner of the state has spoken. Let’s see how it goes.

@drpenking: This response shows how unsettled you are. Let me shock you. That thing you are afraid of happening, Peter Obi will make it happen and disgrace you.

@faisall005: Wai mallam you mean they are coming from Anambra down to kaduna… What a long journey sir.

@NnennaJosephs: This is the most tribalistic and disgusting Tweet I have seen. A sitting governor is mocking an entire region for having a security situation when he is sitting on top of a parallel government run by terrorists. I have never seen such shamelessness.

@Hassan_sadeeque: What makes the tweet funny to me is that there are grown men out there thinking that an Igbo man in anyway stands a chance to be the president. Igbo ooo.
