YOLA — The biggest opposition political party in Adamawa State the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday sacked its chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Bilal, over alleged acts of corruption and ineptitude.

The State Executive Committee (EXCO) has passed a vote of no confidence on the state chairman of the party Bilal as contained in a petition alleging corrupt acts, abuse of power, and lack of capacity to administer the party.

Meanwhile, Hon Samaila Tadawus, his deputy, has already been sworn in being sworn-in as the new chairman.

In its vote of no-confidence on Bilal, dated September 5, the party Excos said: “We the undersigned members of the state executive committee in Adamawa State passed a vote of no confidence on the chairman of Adamawa State chapter of APC, Alhaji Ibrahim Bilal.

“Our resolve to take this line of action follows the failure of the chairman to respond to the allegations of gross misconduct leveled against him as provided for in the constitution. We view his failure to respond to the weighty allegations as acceptance of guilt.”

But in a swift reaction, the sacked Chairman, Bilal said it is only the National Working Committee, of the APC, that reserves the power in a dispute or crisis to remove an elected chairman of the party.

“I want to reassure our party stakeholders to disregard the actions of the motley crowd, of enemies within, acting the script of the opposition to plunge the party into crisis, at the verge of a crucial election, that their actions have further reawakened the consciousness of party faithful to be vigilant,”.
