ENUGU — An amateur video clip taken at the spur of the moment by residents in the hilly Coal Camp area of Coal City in Enugu state making waves in social media has thrown residents in panic given the recent cases of security challenges in the state.

The video obviously taken by female residents in Coal Camp alleges that on Friday morning, they sighted a helicopter hovering around the area for a long time.

Initially, they thought it was having problems and about to crash but were surprised when at about 3:54 pm the said helicopter landed at Ugwu-Ajali hill, bordering Ologo, Jamboree, and Coal Camp areas of Enugu.

“After a while, about 100 persons alighted from the helicopter; they were wearing mufti not Army uniform,” the female voices on the video stated.

“Please Government, hear us out; Enugu State, Governor Ugwuanyi we are calling on you to come to our rescue. The helicopter hovered around since Friday morning and landed at about 3:54 pm.”

She also advised those living around Odozi Obodo in the Coal camp to be careful while calling on all who get the video clip to share and save a life.

But the Commissioner of Police Enugu State Command, CP Ammani has described the video clip as fake and disinformation.

The CP urged Enugu residents to disregard the video; he said, “The clearly doctored video and information therein is fake and purely a product of the mongers’ figment of imagination and disinformation, aimed at misleading and creating panic and confusion amongst law-abiding citizens of the State.”

His words which should be soothing to the hearts of the people raised some concerns as many wondered who then were dropped off on that hill on Friday or was it a figment of the ladies’ imagination.

The Police made no mention of any official incident of such nature taking place at all but immediately refuted the authenticity of the video. They ordered, “A conduct of intelligence-guided discreet investigation to fish out the creators and peddlers of the fake video.”

What are the police findings on the alleged helicopter dropping men on the hillside of Coal Camp? Would these ladies who from their voices were speaking frantically and calling for help fake an issue of this magnitude? And for what purpose”

These questions and more residents ponder reiterating that whatever the case, security personnel and government should work assiduously to secure the lives and properties of Enugu State residents.
