..says all pending issues should be resolved in accordance with the law

The federal government has ordered the immediate reopening of the Dangote Cement factory in Obajana, Kogi State.

The National Security Council (NSC) gave the directive on Friday at a meeting held at the Council Chambers of the State House, Abuja.

The West African Pilot News reports that the Kogi State House of Assembly, last week, ordered the closure of the cement plant following an ownership tussle between the Kogi State government and Aliko Dangote, the chairman of the factory.

The Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, who disclosed the NSC’s decision to reporters after the meeting, advised that all issues relating to the controversy should be resolved legally.

“The council noted the development in Kogi State and has ordered the reopening of the cement factory that is closed down,” Aregbesola said, “and has advised that all issues related to that factory should be resolved in accordance with the law”

He reiterated the government’s commitment to guaranteeing and providing employment for Nigerians, adding that “whatever impedes that must be discouraged.”
