The Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has urged People Democratic Party to focus on grassroots campaign and mobilization.
Ugwuanyi stated this during the inauguration of the PDP Campaign Organization on Tuesday; “we must campaign for our party in our political wards and communities as politics is indeed local,”
“When we win all the polling units in our ward, our ward is won; when we win all the wards in our Local Government Area, our LGA is won; when we win in all our LGAs, our state is finally won. Therefore, in reality, it is everybody’s business to sell our party.”
Congratulating the Director General, Chief Ikeje Asogwa, and members of the PDP Campaign Organization, the Governor urged all hands to be on deck to move their great party forward so as to retain power come 2023.
“PDP has enjoyed the overwhelming support and kind consideration of the good people of Enugu State in the past two decades; this demonstration of love, unflinching support and committed solidarity have been the wind in the sail of the party in the state,” Ugwuanyi reiterates.
Praising the party’s performance, Ugwuanyi said, “Consecutive PDP governments in Enugu State have strived to fulfill their contracts with the people within the limit of the available resources.”
He further advised, “Enugu State chapter of the PDP has a tradition of being peaceful, united, law abiding and yet resolute in the conduct of its affairs, these attributes, as always, should guide the conduct of our campaigns in the state.”
In his response, the DG of the PDP state campaign organization, Chief Asogwa, thanked Gov. Ugwuanyi the leader of the party in the state and the South East geo-political zone, for giving them the opportunity to serve the party.
Asogwa then assures the party stating, “Your Excellency, the assurance we want to give you is that we are going to deliver all our candidates 100 percent starting from you (Ugwuanyi) to the last man.”
Dignitaries present to witness the event are: Enugu State Deputy Governor, Mrs. Cecilia Ezeilo; the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Edward Ubosi; the Enugu state PDP governorship candidate, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah and his running mate, Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai.
Others include the PDP State Chairman, Hon. Augustine Nnamani; the Member representing Enugu East/Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency, Hon. Prince Cornelius Nnaji; PDP candidates for Senate, Federal House of Representatives and State House of Assembly; the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Uche Ugwu, Council Chairmen, amongst others.
