Bright Chimezie, the pioneer of the ziggima sound, has declared his support for the presidential bid of Peter Obi, candidate of the Labour Party (LP).
The veteran musician took to Instagram to endorse the LP’s candidate hours after attending the presidential rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State on Thursday.
Abike Dabiri-Erewa, chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), had shared a photo with the highlife singer at the rally on Twitter with the caption: “Putting heads together as we get set to kickstart the APC rally in the beautiful city of Abakaliki. Nice to see Bright Chimezie.”
However, declaring his support for Obi, Chimezie said he was at the APC rally to discharge his professional duty as an entertainer and urged Nigerians to vote wisely in the forthcoming general elections.
“Dear family and fans, I wish to reiterate that as an entertainer and having sat on the Ziggima throne for over 40 years, I commit to continue to ‘ziggimatically’ put hearty smiles on all faces irrespective of individual inclinations,” the musician wrote.
“However, marching Obidiently to the call for restoring Nigeria remains the number one prerogative of the nation at this point. Vote Wisely!”
