The Ekwueme Centre for Multidisciplinary Research in Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, is set to host Ogbonnaya Onu as the lead speaker for this year’s Ekwueme lecture series. The Centre set up a few years ago to keep the memory of the late statesman evergreen, is chaired by Professor Makodi Biereenu-Nnabugwu, Professor of Political Theory in Political Science Department of the Institution. Top on agenda of the Centre, is to promote multidisciplinary research within the university community and beyond.
The 2022 Ekwueme lecture and roundtable has been slated to hold on Thursday, December 8 and the event has as its guest speaker, Ogbonnaya Onu, a former Governor of Abia state and former Nigeria’s Minister. Other expected guests include, Prof. Charles Soludo, the Governor of Anambra State, Rt. Hon. Uche Okafor, the Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Prof. Laz Ekwueme, with the University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Charles Esimone as the host.
In all, the lecture is expected to include a roundtable on the legacies of Chief Alex Ekwueme, while special attention is paid to “the Politics of Power-sharing in Nigeria”. As anticipated, the event will trigger discussions relating to the 2023 General Election and the question of Nigeria’s president of Igbo extraction, among others.
Aside the expected guests and speakers, many more government officials, academics, students and other professionals from diverse works of life are projected to be at the event which is holding within the premises of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State capital.
