Bright Okpocha, the famous standup comedian better known as Basketmouth, has announced his separation from Elsie Okpocha, his wife after 12 years of nuptial bliss.
The comedian broke the news of the “unavoidable situation” on his official social media pages on Thursday.
He said the “difficult decision” to end his marriage came after “much deliberations” between himself and his wife.
“As much as it pains me to bring my personal life to the public space, this is an unavoidable situation,” his post read.
“After much deliberations, my wife and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage.”
Basketmouth said that though separated, they will continue to co-parent their three children, giving them “all the care, love, guidance and support they need”, and urged the public to respect their decision.
On 6 November 2021, the now-estranged couple celebrated their steel wedding anniversary, showering encomium on each other on their respective social media pages, but failed to celebrate their twelfth wedding anniversary this year.
