Pope Francis has called for an end to laws criminalising homosexuality, noting that “we are all children of God”.
The Pope spoke during an interview with the Associated Press on Wednesday.
“Being homosexual isn’t a crime,” Pope Francis said, adding, “It’s not a crime. Yes, but it’s a sin.”
He urged religious leaders to work together to end laws discriminating against homosexuals, stressing that gays should not be marginalised or discriminated against.
“We are all children of God, and God loves us as we are and for the strength that each of us fights for our dignity,” he added.
