The Police Public Relations Officer Enugu State Command DSP Daniel Ndukwe has assured all election stakeholders of the Enugu State Command and other security Agencies in the state’s readiness to provide adequate security during the 2023 general elections and beyond.

“The police working with other security agencies in the state have put in place the required machinery, the planning and preparation to ensure that adequate security and safety is provided for every participant in this election;

“From the electorates to INEC officials, party agents as well as observers both local and international,” DSP Ndukwe said.

On the strength of the command Ndukwe says, “Every single police officer in the state has been duly assigned specific roles and duty to perform in this election. Beyond the strength of the police, we have the manpower of every other security agencies in the state who will partake directly in this election.”

“We also have the police strength in other formations within the state that are not directly under the state command; all of their police personnel in these offices will be incorporated and appropriately deployed to ensure the security and safety of the entire state during the period of the election and beyond.”

Acknowledging apprehension over the general election, the Police PRO encourages the electorates to ignore the no election threats but participate fully in the election.

“Yes there is this apprehension in the air concerning the ‘no election threat’ but we encourage our people to come out en masse, be actively involved in the process knowing that this is the only opportunity we have to exercise our civic responsibility and make a choice in the set of people that will be leading us in this country in the next couple of years.”

DSP Ndukwe then called on all to be vigilant, trust and relay credible information to the police;

“If you see something, don’t hesitate to say something; we need credible information, intelligence to thwart sinister plan of criminal elements that would want to do anything untoward in the course of the election.”

The Nigeria 2023 General elections is slated for Saturday 25th February and Saturday March 11.
