Four persons were arrested by Police in Kebbi and Ekiti states in possession of N17, 250,000 fake Bank notes.

According to the Police, members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) assisted in the arrest of three suspects at Warrah Motor Park in Birnin Kebbi, the Kebbi State capital with N17 million in their possession.

CP Ahmed  Kwantagora said the suspects would be charged to court for prosecution.

In the same vein, Amotekun Corps, local security outfits in Ekiti State has apprehended one Celestine with N250,000 fake bank notes of N1,000 denomination.

The commander of the corps, Brig. Gen. Joe Komolafe (rtd) while parading the suspect at the corps headquarters in Ado-Ekiti explained that he was arrested at Omuo Ekiti in Ekit East Council Area while spending the fake naira notes in a market in the area.

“Amotekun operatives were alerted by some Point of Sale Operators (POS)on discovery of the fake new  notes in the area. On receipt of the information, our men swung into action and arrested the suspect with large quantities of the fake naira notes.

“Our men were reliably informed that the suspect came into the community with about N250,000 fake new N1,000 notes. He is currently undergoing interrogations at our office here. He will be handed over to the police for further probe and prosecution on completion of our investigation on the matter,” Komolafe said.

The suspect, Mr Celestine was said to have confessed to belonging to a counterfeiting syndicate headed by someone based in the Ikotun area of Lagos.
