The Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) is set to present Certificates of Return (CoR) on Tuesday and Wednesday next week to the victorious National Assembly candidates in the Saturday, 25th February  election.

According to INEC on Saturday, winners have been declared for 423 seats consisting 325 House of Representatives seats and 98 senatorial seats.

Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the INEC chairman disclosed during a meeting of the commission with State Resident Electoral Commissioners (REC) in Abuja that supplementary elections will be held in 46 constituencies where elections did not hold last week.

According to INEC, contrary to previous elections where two parties dominated the two chambers of the National Assembly, the commission noted that “this is the most diverse National Assembly since 1999 ” with eight political parties winning at least a seat in the Senate and nine parties were able to make it to the House of Representatives.

According to INEC, pending the supplementary election, the result of the last senatorial election is as follows: All Progressives Congress (APC), 57 seats, All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), one seat, Labour Party, six seats New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) two seats, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),  29 seats, Social Democratic Party (SDP), two seats and Yung Progressives Party (YPP), one seat .

For the  House of Representatives, It is Action Democratic Congress (ADC), two seats, APC, 162 seats, APGA, four seats, Labour Party, 34 seats,  NNPP, 18 seats, PDP, 102 seats, SDP, two seats, and YPP  one seat..

The commission said that Certificates of Return would be presented to Senators-elect on Tuesday 7th March 2023 at 11.00am at the National Collation Centre, the International Conference Centre, Abuja, while members of the House of Representatives-elect would receive theirs the following day, on Wednesday 8th March 2023, at 11.00am at the same venue.

“However, for effective crowd management, each Senator/Member-elect should be accompanied by a maximum of two guests. The comprehensive list of all members-elect would be uploaded to the Commission’s website shortly.”
