In its efforts to end insurgency and other criminalities across the six geo-political zones of the country before May 29 when the present regime will exit, President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday commissioned 700 troops-carrying trucks made in the Ojo area of Lagos State.

President Buhari who performed the ceremony virtually, said the decision was to boost the fight against threats in the land.

The president said it was evident during last Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections the commitments of the government towards ensuring peace in Nigeria, adding that the military vehicles were produced by Stallion Group in Lagos.

Earlier, the Minister of Defence, Magashi, said due to the complexity of crimes requires all actors to synergize efforts to safeguard the country from any threat.

“With the induction of these vehicles, the armed forces would be better equipped to ensure troops are conveyed safely and timely to objective areas which would enhance the operational efficiency of the Services,” he said.

The permanent secretary in the ministry, Kana, disclosed that the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON), located in Kaduna State, would be strengthened for the production of local military hard wares.
