NewsNigeriaPoliticsTinubu travels to Paris to ‘rest’ after a hectic election period

The President-elect Bola Tinubu on Tuesday night jetted out of the country to rest after a heated electioneering period, The West African Pilot News had learnt.

Since Tinubu declared his intention to run for the 2023 presidential election and emerged as the flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Nigerians raised concerns about his health status with critics urging him to quit the presidential race due to his apparent health challenges.

However, the former Lagos governor dismissed all reports that he is not physically fit for the rigours of political campaigns and to govern.

At a meeting, he said that though he lacks physical strength, his mental capacity would be sufficient for whatever the job entails.

In another meeting, he maintained that he is fit to occupy the office of the presidency; asking, “Do I look like a sick man?”

With the conclusion of the 2023 general election on Saturday, March 18, Tinubu, who was declared the winner of the February 25 presidential election, ‘decided to take a break’.

Tunde Rahman, the president-elect’s spokesperson said, “After a very exhaustive campaign and election season, President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has travelled abroad to rest and plan his transition programme ahead of May 29, 2023 inauguration.”

Rahman added, “The President-elect decided to take a break after the hectic campaign and election season to rest in Paris and London, preparatory to going to Saudi Arabia for Umrah (Lesser Hajj) and the Ramadan Fasting that begins Thursday.”

Tinubu’s departure from the country three days after the 2023 general election has once again raised dust on the next president’s true state of health.
