The Archbishop, Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim has urged christians to key in into the the spirit, mind and wind of the Easter season which is a period of appropriating the redemptive works of Christ in salvaging humanity.
In his Easter message to christians, Archbishop Ibezim said the season calls for sober reflection and a time to evaluate both personal and national lives.
The prelate explained that the resurrection of Jesus is God’s intervention in the history of salvation to human kind, hence it is a redemption story.
He noted that the raising of Jesus Christ from the dead has opened a new vista of hope for humanity, restored to mankind the stolen mandate from the devil and lost authority in the garden of Eden which God gave Adam and Eve, the first parent.
On the state of the State and Nation, the Archbishop, said the country and state need divine intervention at this critical moment, especially with the outcome of the Presidential, National Assembly, Gubernatorial and State House of Assembly elections, greeted by uncertainties and omen, negative trending resulting from the sham elections and electoral malpractice.
He added that the election witnessed a vote buying, voters inducements, voters intimidation and suppression, ethnic profiling, snatching of ballot boxes destruction of electoral materials, erading the use of Bimodal Voters Accreditation System in most areas as against the promise, manipulation of electoral results and non transmission of results to IREV portal on real time.
The Anglican Prelate said there are fears within and without, hence the need to beckon on the God of divine intervention in this season of holy week to intervene in the national mess, hopelessness, economic woes of poverty, massive unemployment, political instability insecurities and agitations.
He urged christians to continue to beckon on God to rescue the nation and state inorder to become a better place that will be cherished, raising godly, competent, compassionate and capable leaders in this trial moment.
He expressed hope that there is light at the end of the tunnel and that the God of divine intervention will move his power again and level every mountain at various families, the state and nation.
