Micro-blogging platform Twitter will get a new Chief Executive Officer, CEO, in six weeks, Elon Musk says.

In a tweet on Thursday, Musk announced that he has hired a new CEO to replace him as the ‘Chief Twit’, a pseudonym he took following his $44 billion acquisition of the social media platform on October 27, 2022, to reflect his new status.

Musk says he will become Twitter’s executive chairman and chief technology officer when the transition happens.

Although Musk did not reveal the identity of the incoming CEO, there are reports that Linda Yaccarino, NBCUniversal’s head of advertising, will be the billionaire’s successor.

According to The Washington Post and Financial Times, sources familiar with the matter disclosed that Musk is in ‘advanced talks’ with Yaccarino about the position.

Musk’s decision to step down from the CEO position might not be unconnected to the result of a poll he conducted in December in which 57.5 per cent of the participants voted for him to quit the role.

He had promised to abide by the decision of the majority and resign as the CEO as soon as he found someone ‘foolish enough to take the job’.
