The ongoing All Progressive Grand Alliance – APGA, congresses in Anambra State, have produced new officers for the party at various levels. On Tuesday, the State Congress of the party produced Barr. Ifeatu Obiokoye, who emerged as the new Anambra State Chairman of APGA.

Earlier, APGA had zoned the State Chairmanship to Anambra Central senatorial zone, which effectively limited contenders for the coveted position to party members from Anambra Central zone. However, at the congress which was held at Prof. Dora Akuyili Women Development Centre, some form of political agreement was reached and Barr. Ifeatu Obiokoye emerged as the consensus candidate and substantive State Chairman-Elect for APGA.

Obiokoye who was the former Special Adviser to Governor Willie Obiano, hails from Ogidi in Idemili North Local Government Area and he would be taking over from Sir Nobert Obi from Ekwusigo Local Government, who has served in that capacity for two consecutive terms.

So far, the APGA congresses at ward, local government, and state levels under the Chairmanship of Dr. Alex Obiogbolu, have been adjudged by many observers, to be fair and well organized. Although there are some complaints as expected in all political activity, however, it is not in doubt that the managers of the congresses in the state led by Dr. Obiogbolu, have done a credible job on the whole.

In the coming weeks, it would be interesting to see how these new party officers will carry on with the activities of APGA in the state, even as the next governorship election expected to be a litmus political test for Governor Soludo, approaches.
