Bola Tinubu and Kasim Shettima have been officially sworn in as the president and vice-president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The inauguration ceremony took place at the Eagle Square, Abuja on Monday, May 29.
The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola administered the oath of office to Tinubu and his deputy, Shettima at exactly 10:28am and 10:38am respectively.
Tinubu and Shettima takes over from Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice, Yemi Osibanjo who won the 2015 presidential election and were reelected in 2019.
The event was attended by Buhari’s predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan, President of the Republic of Cote D’Ivoire, Alassane Ouattara; President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo; and President of Rwanda, Paul Kagame and the new Prime Minister of Gabon, Billy By-Nze, among other dignitaries.
Delegates of the United States government led by Marcia L. Fudge, US secretary of the department of housing and urban development, also witnessed the swearing in.
