Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has told intending 2023 Muslim Pilgrims who are embarking on the sacred journey to Saudi Arabia, to be good ambassadors of the state.

The governor who was represented by Senator-elect Abubakar Ohere emphasised the importance of being exemplary ambassadors of Kogi State, stressing that their actions during the pilgrimage would bring honour to the state.

In a press statement on Monday, signed by Onogwu Muhammed, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Bello acknowledged that pilgrimage is not only a personal and spiritual endeavour but also an opportunity to serve as representatives of Kogi State and Nigeria.

He congratulated those who will partake in the holy journey, and urged them to see the opportunity as a privilege bestowed upon them by the Almighty.

He reminded the pilgrims that they carry the hopes, dreams, and aspirations of the state, as representatives of Kogi State, and stressed the importance of conducting themselves in a manner befitting of the responsibility.

He urged them to uphold the values and teachings of Islam, which are compassion, honesty, and humility, pointing out that the principles should guide their actions not only during the pilgrimage but also in their daily lives.

“By being good ambassadors of Kogi State, you have the opportunity to showcase the richness of our culture, the warmth of our people, and the unity that binds us together,” Bello said.

He implored them to use the sacred journey as an opportunity to fervently pray for the development, peace, and transformation of the state and Nigeria.

The Governor reminded them that prayer is a powerful tool that can bring about positive change in their lives and communities. He charged them to pray for wisdom and guidance for leaders at all levels.

While bidding farewell to the pilgrims, Bello wished them a spiritually enriching journey to the holy land.

According to the statement, a total of 726 pilgrims from Kogi State would embark on this year’s Hajj, and their presence is a testament to their commitment and devotion.
