Burna Boy clinched the ‘Best International Act’ award at the 23rd edition of the Black Entertainment Television, BET, Awards held at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, California on Sunday night.
The annual award show celebrates the achievement of black entertainers, as well as other minorities, from the worlds of music, film, sports, television and philanthropy in particular.
Taking to Twitter to congratulate Burna Boy on winning the ‘Best International Act’ award, BET said, “Huge congratulations to Burna Boy for clinching the Best International Act award! His music continues to transcend borders and inspire.”
The singer beat out fellow nominees like Ayra Starr (Nigeria), Central Cee (UK), Stormzy (UK), Aya Nakamura (France), Tiakola (France), Uncle Waffles (Swaziland), K.O (South Africa), Ella Mai (UK) and L7nnon (Brazil).
Burna Boy, who was not present at the show, appreciated the organisers for the award.

Burna Boy, born Damini Ogulu, also took home a BET Award in the same category in 2019, 2020, and 2021.
