Senator Godswill Akpabio, president of the Senate, has constituted the committees for the upper legislative chamber and their leadership.

The Senate President announced the committees and their leaders during plenary on Tuesday.

Below is the list of the committees and their heads:

  • Committee on Rules and Business — Titus Zam (chairman), Opeyemi Bamidele (deputy).
  • Committee on Senate Services — Sunday Karimi (chairman), Williams Eteng Jonah (deputy).
  • Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct and Public Petitions — Okechukwu Ezea (chairman), Khalid Ibrahim Mustapha (deputy).
  • Committee on Public Accounts — Aliu Wadada Ahmed (chairman), Onyeka Peter (deputy).
  • Committee on National Security and Intelligence — Shehu Buba Umar (chairman), Asuquo Ekpenyong (deputy).
  • Committee on Legislative Compliance — Garba Musa Maidoki (chairman), Ede Dafinone (deputy).
  • Committee on Media and Public Affairs — Adeyemi Adaramodu (chairman), Salisu Shuaibu Afolabi (deputy).
  • Committee on Appropriations — Olamilekan Adeola (chairman), Ali Ndume (deputy).

The constitution of the committees is in line with order 96 of the Senate standing rules, which provides for the establishment of special committees within the first 14 legislative days of a new session.
