Following the alleged missing of over four billion nairas from the Kano State Agricultural Supply Company (KASCO), the Kano State Pubic Complaint and Anti-Corruption Agency has commenced an investigation into the matter.
Muhyi Gado, Chairman of the Commission, had led an investigation team to the warehouses in the Kumbotso local government area of the state where cars, heavy-duty tractors, and tractors alleged to have been bought by the siphoned funds were kept.
Gado stated that the funds were mischievously transferred to an association registered with the corporate affairs commission named Association of compassionate friends from the coffers of Kano Agricultural Supply Company.
“The Association was meant to promote and take care of the living standard of the children of the less privileged people in the society, but unfortunately it has been turned into a machine stealing public funds,” Gado said.
The commission Chairman revealed that N15 million have so far been recovered and the anti-graft agency had succeeded in blocking about N80 million, while eight suspects have been arrested.
Gado, while appealing to the public to cooperate with the commission in the recovery of government-looted property, said the commission will soon file the case in the appropriate court.
