Taraba State government has constituted a special task force that would checkmate quackery in the medical profession in the state.
Dr. Bodiya Buma, Commissioner for Health, who disclosed this weekend, said Governor Agbu Kefas has given the ministry a march to checkmate activities of quackery in the profession.
He said the task force will comprise only medical professionals, and security agencies to ensure that the state ceases to become a dumping ground for fake drugs.
“The Governor has asked us to look into the existing regulatory bodies to collaborate with them to achieve our set-up goals.”
“There are regulatory bodies but over the years funding has been a major problem.
“They have not been properly funded. The Governor has assured us that the task force will be properly funded,” he said.
Dr. Buma warned unprofessional to as a matter of urgency desist from such acts.
