A team of Nigerian soldiers stationed in the Danko Wasagu local government area of Kebbi State has reportedly killed a suspected notorious bandits’ commander Mai-Nasara.

Mai-Nasara was gunned down in Sengeko forest in Kebbi State on Tuesday during a fierce exchange of fire between his gang and men of the Nigerian Army.

The team also arrested five other members of the same gang who tried to escape during the gun duel.

The gang is behind the obnoxious attacks and rampant kidnapping-for-ransom in communities in the State.

“As the troops were on routine patrol in Sengeko forest, around 0730hrs, they suddenly engaged the bandits in a fierce gun duel,” Abdulrahman Usman, the director of security at the Cabinet Office, Birnin Kebbi, told reporters on Tuesday.

“During the exchange of fire, the bandits tried to escape but were neutralised by the army, and two of their bikes were also recovered and destroyed in the process before the troops withdrew to FOB Malekachi by 1230hrs.”

Usman credited the success story to the provision of crucial logistics to the security personnel in the state by Governor Nasir Idris.
