The Recording Academy announced the nominees for the 2024 Grammys on Friday.
Burna Boy leads the pack of Nigerian artists set to compete for the top prizes with four nominations.
Close behind is Davido, who is getting his first-ever Grammy nomination, with three nominations.
Burna Boy and Davido are both up for the ‘Best Global Music Performance’, ‘Best African Music Performance’ and ‘Best Global Music Album’ categories.
Burna Boy’s and Davido’s latest albums, ‘I Told Them…’ and ‘Timeless’ respectively are competing for the ‘Best Global Music Album’.
Davido’s ‘Feel’ and Burna Boy’s ‘Alone’ made it to the ‘Best Global Music Performance’ category.
For the ‘Best African Music Performance’, there are ‘Amapiano’ by Asake and Olamide, ‘City Boys’ by Burna Boy, ‘Unavailable’ by Davido featuring Musa Keys, ‘Rush’ by Ayra Starr and ‘Water’ by South Africa’s Tyla.
Burna Boy’s 21 Savage-featuring ‘Sittin’ on Top of the World’ was pitted against Doja Cat’ ‘Attention’, Drake and 21 Savage’s ‘Spin Bout U’, Lil Durk’s J. Cole-featuring ‘All My Life’ and Sza’s ‘Low’ in the ‘Best Melodic Rap Performance’ category.
The ceremony, which will take place on February 4, 2024, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, will recognise recordings released from October 1, 2022, to September 15, 2023.
