President Bola Tinubu has said that his past and present accomplishments as governor and now president make him deserving of a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Speaking at the 10th German–Nigerian Business Forum in Berlin earlier this week, Tinubu said his reforms as Governor (1999–2007) that made Lagos State the fifth-largest economy in Africa and paved the way for him to lead Africa’s most populous nation is the reason he deserves the recognition.
“I governed Lagos for eight consecutive years. Today, I can proudly beat my chest that Lagos State is on the horizon and the fifth-largest economy in Africa, rising from zero. This is the track record that led me to the presidency,” he said.
“Nigerians voted for me for reforms and from day one of my inauguration, I started the reform. To me, if you didn’t mention me in the Guinness Book of Records, I’d thrive to find a way to insert myself.”
