The Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Edbetokun has ordered thorough investigation into last week clash between Army and the Police in Adamawa in which both sides recorded casualties.
IGP Edbetokun gave the order when he paid a courtesy call on Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in the Government House Yola Tuesday, described the clash as unfortunate.
Recall that last Tuesday conflict begun along Target Junction Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area, that resulted in an exchange of fire and brutal attacked on the State Police headquarters.
He explained that the situation is being handled and justice will be done at the end of the investigation and lauded Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his intervention.
The IGP assured adequate support to the Police Command in Adamawa and the State Government in maintaining security and peace in the state.
He appreciates Governor Fintiri for the support being rendered to the Police in carrying out security operations in the state.
IGP Egbetokun revealed his vision in the Force to include among others makes the police friendly to the citizens, support the agenda of government and respond adequately to the dynamics of crimes and criminality.
Responding, Governor Fintiri commended IGP Egbetokun for bringing changes in the Nigerian Police Force such as improving the welfare of the personnel and requested for the establishment of police mobile training school in Mbamba Yola.
He said the establishment of the school as part of the commitment to boost security in protecting lives and property of Nigerians.
The Governor while expressing concern with the recent clash between Police and Military officers in Yola, the state capital, assured that such incident will not repeat itself.
The Governor appreciated the visit by the IGP, and assured his administration’s commitment to continue to support the Nigerian Police and other security agencies for improved security in the state.
