The head of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, has tasked the media to enlighten Nigerian youths about the dangers of internet fraud.
Speaking to a Daar Communications Plc. team that paid him a courtesy visit on Monday, Olukoyede expressed indignation at the rate at which youths resort to cybercrime.
“It is worrisome that seven out of ten students today are involved in cyber crimes,” he lamented, “These are the youths we are preparing to be leaders of tomorrow.”
The EFCC chair described internet fraud as a menace and cankerworm in society.
He called on the media to design programmes aimed at enlightening youths on the evil of crime.
“The media should not relent in enlightening them on the evils of such criminal practices,” Olukoyede added.
