Kebbi State government has commenced the construction and upgrade of 120 secondary schools across the state at the cost of N8.9 billion.

Recall that in July Governor Nasir Idris approved over N2.4 billion for the construction of new and renovation of existing classrooms and the purchase of furniture for some selected schools across the state.
Governor Idris while launching the project in Bubuche town, Arugungu Local Government Area, said the initiative was to revitalize the education sector in the state.
“The programme, which was under the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) in collaboration with the World Bank and Dominat Engineering Limited, aimed at promoting the education sector by providing conducive learning environment for children.
“120 schools from primary school to junior secondary and junior secondary to senior secondary schools under the AGILE programme would be upgraded.
“The introduction of AGILE programme had yielded positive outcome which culminated into an increase in the enrolment of adolescent girls by 40% in the state, as well as improved the physical infrastructural condition of schools, with 294 schools getting small grant and 93 receiving big grant,” he said.
Governor Nasir said the desire of his administration was to change the educational fortune of the state for the better by creating an enabling environment that will promote, enhance, and institute the education of girl-child in the fabric of the society.
