Four suspected kidnappers who kidnapped two Catholic priests of the Pankshin diocese in Plateau State have been arrested.

The kidnappers who were members of the church led by the financial secretary of the church were demanding twenty-five million naira (N25m) as ransom.

The four suspected culprits are 2 Catholics, one of whom is a Church Council Secretary, one COCIN, and one non-church goer; all from the same village, Fier.

They are now helping security agencies in their investigation.

Recall that the Congregation of Missionaries Sons of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (Claretian Missionaries) has appealed for the safety and freedom of two members who were kidnapped by bandits on Thursday, 1 February.

In a statement issued on 2 February, the provincial secretary of the Claretian Missionaries (CMF), Rev. Fr Dominic Ukpo announced with “sadness” the abduction of Rev. Fr Kenneth Kanwa and his assistant, Rev. Fr Jude Nwachukwu.

Fr Kanwa is the parish priest of St. Vincent De Paul Fier Parish of Pankshin Diocese in Plateau State.
