Terrorists stormed Yan-Nasarawa village in Faskari LGA of Katsina State on Monday night, leaving a trail of six corpses, with burnt houses and motorcycles.
Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, confirmed the attack on Tuesday
Aliyu said that the attackers were armed to the teeth with sophisticated AK-47 rifles.
Sounds of heavy gunshots at about 11:30 p.m. jolted the locals from sleep.
“They shot and killed six persons, injured 10, and set ablaze three houses and about 10 vehicles,” said Aliyu.
The terrorists also abducted an unspecified number of people and looted six shops before setting it on fire. Among those killed was the village head, Haruna Wakiki.
Police spokesman Aliyu said the State Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Musa has since deployed “tactical, operational and intelligence operatives” to the community to “comb the surrounding bushes for the possible arrest of the perpetrators for diligent prosecution.”
