The Enugu State Government has signed a $6 million LNG/LCNG Mother Station project with Greenville LNG in line with her vision of creating sustainable energy for Ndi Enugu and the Southeast region.

Enumerating the gains of establishing the station in the state, the Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Obi Ozor said the project will create local business opportunities and economic diversification amongst others.

“By investing in sustainable energy solutions, we are taking necessary steps towards achieving our goals of energy security and independence, in addition to environmental sustainability.

“This will further open up the State to more business opportunities within the value chain, which falls into one of His Excellency’s key goals to stimulate economic activities and create jobs for Ndi Enugu.”

“It is essential to refocus on attracting private sector investment and promoting economic growth in our State. By encouraging global companies like Greenville to situate in Enugu, we can create a multiplier effect that benefits our economy and strengthens our position as a hub for business and innovation,” Obi Ozor said.

Signing the agreement on behalf of the State, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, said the project will position Enugu State as a Leader in green energy in the country, and attract funds reserved for Green compliant entities.

The Partnership Agreement was signed in the presence of the Attorney General of the state Barr. Kingsley Udeh; Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Obi Ozor; Special Adviser on Transport, Iphie Ugonabo, and the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Transport, Mr. Ikechukwu Nnamoko.

The LNG/LCNG mother station will be sited on a 5-hectare land at Ugwuonyeama, Amukwu Abor in Udi Local Government; the station will supply L-CNG to more than 30 sub-stations across the State.
