Mrs. Nkechinyere Mbah, wife of the Enugu State Governor has directed the Commissioner for Ministry of Children, Gender and Social Development, Mrs. Ngozi Enih, to intensify sensitization programs on depression even as she urges depressed persons to seek early help to avoid tragic ends.

Mbah stated this at the Ogui Police Station Enugu where three (3) children who recently lost their mother are in custody.

The 3 under seven years old siblings’ mother was crushed to death by a vehicle she purposely ran into;

Information gathered so far states that the deceased went to the Police station with her children where she left them, went out of the station, removed her clothes, and ran into the vehicle that crushed her to death.

Regarding their father, the eldest of the children had no information; she also could not give any information about their family, town, or residential address.

The yet-to-be-identified woman may have been suffering from depression and without any help became suicidal.

Meanwhile, after visiting the children at the station, Governor Peter Mbah’s wife ordered that they be transferred to a home to be taken care of by the state government.

Mrs. Mbah also announced scholarships in education for the children from Nursery to the University level.
