In a bid to revive the state’s health sector, the Zamfara State government has constituted the state health sector reform committee.
The announcement was in a statement issued by the information officer of the ministry, Bello Boko said that the government approved the establishment of an emergency action plan main committee and other sub-committees.
The statement quoted the state’s Commissioner of Health, Dr. Aisha Anka as saying that the committee draws members from the state’s Ministry of Health, the NLC, TUC, and other professional bodies in the state.
“Dr. Anka has also charged the sub-committees believing that she knows and is aware of the expertise brought in each committee and also believes that no stone will be left unturned unless the desired goals are achieved.
“She emphasized that collective efforts and commitment from the members of the committees will surely improve the healthcare sector from its current deplorable status with enormous problems to a more accessible, affordable better, and quality service delivery.
“She finally hopes and prays for the whole committees, through their gigantic efforts to at the end of the day produce positive results for the state,” the statement said.
The statement noted that the Health Sector Reform, as the main committee will direct, oversee, and monitor the movement of sub-committees.
Others include the Human Resources for Health, Health Facility Infrastructure, Basic Healthcare Services Delivery, Healthcare Financing and Drug and Supply Chain Management Committees.
The committee is expected to come up with a plan to improve the deplorable state of the sector in the state.
