The Yobe State Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee (known as Zauren Sulhu) has resolved 3,214 cases of various conflicts including farmers/herders’ clashes, communal disputes, marriage issues, and other forms of conflicts in the last three years.

The committee which was inaugurated in 2021 has played a crucial role in resolving crises and clashes and currently working to prevent social vices like drug abuse that negatively impact the youth and children.

Ustaz Babagana Malam Kyari, the Chairman of the State Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee (known as Zauren Sulhu), disclosed this to journalists in Damaturu, the state capital.

Kyari, said the committee’s responsibilities extend to mediating and mitigating disputes between husbands and wives, parents and children, and among other conflicting parties in communities.

“The committee also conducts sensitization and awareness programmes to educate the general public about their civic responsibilities and foster a culture of peaceful coexistence,” Kyari added.
