..As Couple Found Dead In Apo Estate

The Commissioner of Police,  Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, CP Benneth Igweh has stormed a suspected kidnappers hideout at the hills and thick bushes surrounding Zone A and B of Apo-resettlement and its environs.

 A press statement on Wednesday signed by the Command’s Spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh noted that, the CP stormed the area on, “1st April, 2024, at about 11 am, to put in place some security measures in the area, as it is perceived to be kidnappers routes and criminal hideouts.”

However, it is not clear whether the raid was in connection with the killing of an elderly couple in the area.

According to the statement, “Operatives of the FCT Police Command, led by the Commissioner of police, CP Benneth Igweh stormed the hills and thick bushes surrounding Zone A and B of Apo-resettlement and its environs.

“The clearance operation involved burning of illegal structures and bushes surrounding the hills and the proactive deployment of police operatives for surveillance patrol, as the entry and exit routes to the hills have been adequately manned.

“The CP wishes to reiterate that it is no longer business as usual, noting that criminals who intend to disrupt the peace being enjoyed by the residents of FCT will be met with decisive action from the police.

“Residents are enjoined to be vigilant and take advantage of the Police emergency lines to report suspicious activities through:”

The Command’s Spokesperson also said in a statement that, “The incident occurred on the 1st of April at about 10pm, following a distress call by the Estate Manager of Zone D 1st gate, Apo Legislative quarters to Apo Divisional Police Headquarters that one Seun Ezikiel,  called to report that his parents who reside in the estate are not responding to their calls and with his permission, they brought down the window protector of the kitchen was forced to gain access into the  house. Only to discover the bodies of his parents in the pool of their blood with their throats slit by yet to be identified persons.

“Their names are Adebola Ezikiel and Abiodun Ezikiel.  The Commissioner of Police visited the Crime Scene, ordered the Criminal Investigation Department to commence a discreet investigation immediately. The outcome of investigations will be communicated in due course,” she added.
