The Chief Executive Officer of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, Dr. Sania Nishtar says the company is committed to working with the federal government to ensure that every child in Nigeria is protected against vaccine-preventable diseases.

Dr. Nishtar remarked during her visit to a primary health care center and palace of the district head of Mabushi, Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

“I and my colleagues represent an organization that is dedicated to bringing vaccination to every child in the world. As we know, vaccination protects against deadly diseases. And we are very committed to working with the government of Nigeria to ensure that every child on Nigerian soil is vaccinated against vaccine-preventable diseases.”

“Gavi as an international organization was also committed to collaborating with the government towards supporting the country’s efforts in the health sector,” she said.

Also speaking, the Coordinating Minister of Health, Prof Muhammad Ali Pate, applauded Gavi for its long-term partnership with Nigeria in making vaccines available to the country.

Represented by the Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr Muyi Aina, the minister also commended Gavi for visiting health facilities in the country to understand the challenges to help support the country’s efforts.

The District Head of Mabushi, Hassan Dangana Mabushi, called on the government and its partners to upgrade the health facility in the community and employ its youths in the health sector.
