The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended a butcher and resident of Sabon Gari-Futy in the Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Ibrahim Abubakar (33 years) for stabbing his wife Hajara Sa’adu (25 years) to death over minor augments.
He was said to have stabbed his wife on 8/4/2024 with a sharp knife for accusing her of taking away his phone.
This is contained in a statement by SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, Adamawa State Command PPRO on Monday.
The statement reads in part: “The suspect brutally killed the deceased on 8/4/2024 at about 4:30 am after he accused her of taking away his phone which led to little arguments.
“The suspect subdued the deceased, by stabbing her severally with a sharp knife on her back thereby causing her severe injuries and leaving her in a pool of blood.
“The suspect was apprehended following the report made to police by the father of the deceased and a preliminary investigation conducted leading to the recovery of material evidence at the scene of the crime which is linked to him (Husband now Suspect).
“Interestingly, the suspect voluntarily made a confessional statement, adding that he regretted killing the mother of their only child.”
The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, while expressing disappointment over the unfortunate incident, assured that the Command will diligently prosecute the culprit.
He directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of SCID to investigate the matter and ensure the law takes its course.
CP Dankombo then calls on the citizens to always report people of suspicious character around their neighborhoods to the police.
