Hundreds of Thousands of Muslim faithful have trooped out to Maiduguri, Yola, Sokoto, and Damaturu the capitals of Borno, Adamawa, Sokoto, and Yobe states respectively, and observed prayers for the Eid-el-Fitr on Wednesday.

In Maiduguri, the two raka’at prayers were led by Imam Shettima Saleh, who prayed for the total restoration of lasting peace in Borno.

Vice-President Kashim Shettima, Gov. Babagana Zulum, and Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Garbai El-Kanemi, joined other Muslim faithful to observe the prayers at Ramat Square.

In Yola, former Vice-President, the Waziri of Adamawa, Atiku Abubakar, and Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri joined other faithful at the Yola Eid prayer ground led by Imam Ahmadu Bobboi.

Bobboi in his sermon urged Muslims faithful to live in peace and embrace the spirit of forgiveness and tolerance.

He prayed for peace and stability in Adamawa and the nation in general.

In Yobe, the Deputy Governor of the state, Alhaji Idi Gubana, led the government delegation to the prayer observed at Damaturu Central Mosque.

The Chief Imam, Sheikh Goni Kamsulum, who led the prayers, enjoined the Muslims to continue practicing the lessons they learned about keeping brotherhood during the month of Ramadan.

He also called on parents to monitor their wards and the company they keep to ensure discipline.

In his Sallah message presented by his deputy, Gov. Mai Mala Buni congratulated the Muslim faithful on the successful completion of the one-month Ramadan fast and wished them a peaceful celebration.

He reminded the people to continue praying for the unity, peace, security, and prosperity of Yobe and Nigeria in general.

Gov. Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto urged the Muslim community in the state to uphold the virtues of Ramadan to attract Allah’s abundant mercy and forgiveness.

Aliyu, in his Eid message to the Muslim community following the conclusion of the 2024 Ramadan fast, implored affluent individuals in the state to continue demonstrating compassion and generosity toward the less fortunate to earn Allah’s blessings.

“I am aware of the numerous acts of assistance provided by some of our affluent citizens to the needy in our society, which is truly commendable.

“On our part, the government has allocated significant resources to aid the less privileged and vulnerable groups throughout the state,” he stated.

A colorful durbar was also held by horsemen at the palaces of Shehu of Borno and Lamido Adama to mark the occasion.
