Popular Nigerian dancer and singer Korra Obidi has been left shaken after a reported attack in London on Thursday, 11th April 2024.
Obidi, known for her appearances on reality shows like “So You Think You Can Dance,” took to social media to share a disturbing video alleging she was attacked with a knife and a substance believed to be acid.
The graphic video, since removed from public view, reportedly showed Obidi in distress, claiming to have been attacked during a live stream.
She described the attacker as a “black female, five feet tall,” and stated she had been the target of online hate speech in the past.
Obidi’s sister, Nancy Umeh, also took to social media, tearfully claiming her sister was “stabbed on her hands” and had acid thrown on her face.
London Metropolitan Police have confirmed they are investigating the incident.
“We were called to reports of a woman assaulted in Westminster shortly after 18:00hrs on Thursday, 11 April,” a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said.
“Officers attended and found a woman in her 30s with a cut to her hand and reporting a liquid had been thrown at her face. She was taken to hospital for treatment. The liquid was later confirmed to be a non-noxious cosmetic item.”
While the exact details of the attack, including the severity of Obidi’s injuries and the nature of the substance thrown, remain unclear, the incident has sparked concern and outrage online.
Obidi has called the attack a “wake-up call,” and many fans have expressed their well wishes and condemnation of the violence.
