The National Christian Elders Forum, NCEF, held a press conference on Friday accusing “foreign invaders masquerading as religious extremists” of being the true cause of the perpetual violence in Nigeria.
“Nigerians have no problem with each other. It is external forces that are seeking to tear the country apart for a hostile takeover of the land and its resources,” said NCEF.
The NCEF chairman Samuel Gani and pastor Bosun Emmanuel insisted that these invaders target all ethnicities and religions, including Christians, Muslims, and those following traditional faiths.
The group mentioned States like Plateau and Kaduna States where they believe villages have been seized by these foreign Fulani militants, displacing residents.
The group urged Nigerians to unite against this “external threat.”
They also recommended that President Tinubu should appoint a “special investigator to conduct a commission of inquiry into the causes, as well as expose the actors, in the various acts of terrorism and insurgency that have overwhelmed Nigeria since 2009.”
